Join us on Wednesday, September 9 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a Women in Tech Luncheon with Vidya Madhavan, a Professor of Physics at the University of Illinois.  

About the Speaker: 
Vidya Madhavan is a Professor of Physics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a leading researcher in condensed matter physics and quantum materials. She joined the Illinois faculty in 2014 after previous appointments at Boston College and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley. Madhavan’s research focuses on uncovering emergent phenomena in quantum materials, where interactions among spin, charge, and structure give rise to novel physical behaviors. Using advanced techniques such as scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy, along with molecular beam epitaxy, her group probes materials at the atomic scale to explore systems including unconventional superconductors, topological materials, and correlated oxides. Her work is known for pursuing ambitious, high-risk experiments with the potential to reveal entirely new physical phenomena, particularly in complex oxides and atomically thin materials.
