Abstract

Every career, even within the same field, is unique. Hydrology, though relatively small, is a highly diverse field that primarily relies on various branches of physics and mathematics, but often intersects with biology, chemistry, social sciences, economics, and sometimes even legal or political issues. Most hydrologists pursue careers in industry, research, government, municipal agencies, or international organizations. They work on civil engineering projects, environmental assessments, or climate-related issues.

In this presentation, Dr. Momcilo Markus, who has dedicated his entire career to hydrology, will share his experiences. He will highlight the milestones of his career and the lessons learned while working in government, industry, and research over four decades. The focus of the presentation will be Dr. Markus' tenure at ISWS, which began 25 years ago. This section will briefly describe some of his major projects at ISWS, his accomplishments, and some interesting scientific findings.
