SEBPIES is a symposium organized by the Chemistry Department at the University of Illinois to provide a forum for a diverse group of postdocs interested in pursuing research faculty positions. This symposium is in honor of St. Elmo Brady, who in 1916 became the first African-American to earn a Ph.D. in chemistry in the United States, graduating from the University of Illinois. This selective award aims to recognize the significance of sustainable diversity initiatives towards increasing the inclusion of underrepresented groups in advanced STEM careers.
