Students are invited to join this Frank Center Student Workshop to learn more about sports reporting with alum David Campbell (BS '87, journalism), Sports Director for cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer, where he has worked since 1998. In that role, he coordinates coverage of the Browns, Cavaliers, Guardians, Ohio State, and area high school sports for the nation's ninth-largest local news website. He also served as cleveland.com's Health Care Editor in 2020 and 2021.
Before arriving in Cleveland, he was Sports Editor at The Times of Northwest Indiana, where the sports section was named a Triple Crown winner in the AP Sports Editors national contest. He previously worked as a sports writer at The News-Gazette in Champaign; and The Times-Press in Streator, Illinois. He is also a former Daily Illini Sports Editor. Campbell has a master's degree in communication management from John Carroll University and has taught journalism at Notre Dame College (Ohio), John Carroll University, and Cleveland State University.
